iPhone Tour at NC Botanical Garden in Chapel Hill

 Hi all,
This isn't in the Cape Fear Region, but it seems mighty cool.  I wonder if we could do something like this here closer to home.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

North Carolina Botanical Garden Partners with GPTrex to Offer Interactive Mobile Adventures
Botanical Garden visitors have more to explore with interactive app for Apple mobile devices

Chapel Hill - The North Carolina Botanical Garden has partnered with GPTrex, a Chapel Hill-based company founded by parents and educators, to produce interactive, family-friendly adventures for visitors with an iPhone or iPad with 3G capabilities.  Using the devices' built-in technology and intuitive touch screen interface, the mobile adventures offer families a whole new experience when visiting the Botanical Garden.

A unique look at the North Carolina Botanical Garden, the "Garden Explorer" adventure is like having your own naturalist guide.  Visitors learn about the Botanical Garden's work with rare plants, unique amphibian habitats that are found in the display gardens, and the role of prescribed fire in land management.  They will even get a chance to hear a frog call and watch video of a prescribed fire.

To play this and future interactive adventures at the North Carolina Botanical Garden, visitors need to download the free GPTrex application from the Apple App Store.  From within the application, families can easily access "Garden Explorer" by visiting or searching for "North Carolina Botanical Garden."  The application houses a growing collection of place-based adventures at cultural, community, and tourism destinations nationwide.

The North Carolina Botanical Garden, part of the University of North Carolina, has been a leader in native plant conservation and education in the southeastern United States for more than 30 years. It is located off of the US 15-501/NC 54 bypass (Fordham Blvd.) in Chapel Hill. Admission is free and visiting hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and, for the summer (June - August) 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sundays.  More information: http://ncbg.unc.edu
